High school is hard enough without crooked teeth; however, many teenagers are concerned about the overt appearance of traditional metal braces. Fortunately, there’s Invisalign® Teen. This innovative teeth-straightening treatment offers excellent results in a discreet package and is available from our experienced cosmetic dentists, Dr. Coleman and Dr. John. Similar to Invisalign®, Invisalign® Teen is designed to gradually shift teeth into the ideal position using a series of clear aligner trays. The primary difference between the two is that Invisalign® Teen is made specifically to address the unique needs of young people.
When teens arrive for their initial consultation at our practice, Dr. Coleman or Dr. John will take 3D images of their teeth and oral structures and develop a customized treatment plan. We send this information directly to Invisalign®, which will create a series of custom-made, high-quality clear aligner trays. Each tray should be worn for approximately two weeks before moving on to the next aligner in the series. The trays are removable; however, they should be worn at all times – except when the patient is eating, drinking, brushing, or flossing – to achieve the best results in the shortest amount of time. Each individual’s needs are unique, but most people can complete the process in about 6 to 18 months.
Invisalign® Teen can help correct a wide array of cosmetic and functional dental issues. These include overbite, underbite, crossbite, crowding, gaps, and several other concerns that can mar the beauty of a smile or affect normal bite function. Our skilled dental team can determine if Invisalign® Teen is the right approach for your teen’s needs and goals during the initial consultation. In addition to providing a quicker and more discreet teeth-straightening option, Invisalign® Teen typically will be more comfortable than traditional metal braces, which have a tendency to irritate the gums, cheeks, and tongue.
